throttle repair

Overview

The client complained about a stuck throttle cable, after a previous repair by another company was done. We investigated and found that the repair was hacked, so we set about doing it properly.

Sheared Set screw

On a previous repair, the throttle link arm, set screw was sheared off. The owner reported that another company fixed the issue. After investigating, we found that they never drilled out the sheared screw, but in fact just tightened it enough for one or two threads to catch.

This was a fix that was botched and could have lead to disaster for the owner sometime down the line.

We set out drilling out the old screw shaft, tapping in a new thread and replacing it with a larger diameter stainless bolt.
